In WV, Longtime Anchor Steps Away to Be Full-Time Mom

Penny Moss‘ resume will soon read full-time mom instead of television news anchor.

Moss recently announced she is leaving WSAZ-TV after almost 13 years to become a full-time stay-at-home mom to her four children –daughters Claire, 8, and Ava, 5; son Bennett, 2; and youngest daughter Laurel, 3 and 1/2 months.

“I can always go back to a career,” she said. “But it’s like people say, your kids grow up so fast. I can’t get these little ones back.”

Moss’ final newscast is Friday. She anchors the station’s 5:30 and 6 p.m. shows from Charleston.

She said the return to work was particularly hard on her and her family this last time, after Laurel’s birth.

“My older kids are getting into so many activities now,” she said. “It’s hard for me to get them where they need to be.” More…
