In Austin, KEYE Scraps Radio Simulcast in Favor of Brand-New Morning Show

By Andrew Gauthier

After killing its morning newscast in 2009 and replacing it with a simulcast of a local radio show, Austin’s KEYE is set to launch a brand-new morning show this summer.

The CBS-affiliate is modeling the new program after its news and lifestyle show “We Are Austin Live,” which airs weekdays from 4 to 5 p.m. The station describes the new show as “upbeat” and “in-tune with what is happening in and around Austin.”

“We’ve learned how to do different things with ‘Austin Live’ and now we are bringing this energy and creativity to Austin Mornings,” said KEYE news director Suzanne Black about the new show, which will be called “We Are Austin Mornings.”
