Heidi Jones Says She Confessed Because She Thought It Would Save Her Job at WABC

In new court filings, former WABC weathercaster Heidi Jones asserts that she confessed to police because she thought that it would save her job.

According to the Daily News, Jones now claims that police duped her into falsely confessing that she lied about an assault in Central Park. Jones’s lawyer charges that the cops promised her that if she signed a statement, WABC would never find out about the incident.

“[She was] advised that if she would just sign a confession incorporating the specific words and ideas of the lead detective, he would make sure that the ‘confession’ would never be seen by anyone other than his ‘bosses’ at [the] NYPD, and possibly the District Attorney’s Office,” Jones’s attorney wrote.
