Heidi Jones Pleads Guilty To Faking Assault Claim

Heidi Jones, a former weathercaster for WABC, pleaded guilty in Manhattan Supreme Court on Wednesday to faking claims she was assaulted in Central Park in 2010.

Following her guilty plea, Jones will likely be ordered to perform 350 hours of community service, as well as sentenced to probation, according to the New York Daily News. She has already been ordered to undergo psychiatric counseling.

Paul Callan, Jones’ attorney, spoke to reporters outside the courthouse while Jones and her mother stood by silently. Callan expressed “deepest regrets and apologies for any inconvenience that was caused” on behalf of the former WABC weathercaster.

Jones was charged last December with lying to police after no evidence to substantiate her claim that she was attacked while jogging in Central Park could be uncovered. Jones later said she confessed to lying only because she thought it would save her job at WABC.
