Heidi Jones May Be on Her Way Out as WABC Searches for a New Weather Anchor

By Andrew Gauthier

According to a recent job posting, WABC is “looking for a full-time Weather Anchor.” Which raises the question: is Heidi Jones, the embattled weather anchor who is facing charges of lying to New York City police, on her way out?

Jones, who’s been with WABC since 2005, was the station’s weekend weather anchor before taking leave in December after police filed charges against her.

Jones’s bio still remains on WABC’s website and the station had no comment on the matter when TVSpy sister site FishbowlNY contacted them this week.

It’s important to note that the job posting mentions the morning news team while Jones typically covered the evening newscasts. If the station isn’t looking for a straight-up replacement for Jones, it could certainly use the new weather anchor to eventually take over the role that Jones has held.

Jones entered a not guilty plea in early January.  At the time, her attorney said, “There is a presumption of innocence that applies even to Heidi Jones.”

Here’s a video of Jones doing an evening weather report for WABC:
