Having Auditioned for ‘The Voice,’ Anchor Returns to Cover Season Finale

KJRH‘s Justin Wilfon is returning to Los Angeles for “The Voice,” but this time he won’t be singing.

Last year, Wilfon auditioned for NBC’s singing competition show but didn’t make the cut. Now he’s back to cover the show’s season finale for the Tulsa NBC-affiliate.

“When I auditioned for ‘The Voice’ in Los Angeles back in August, I never dreamed I would be back in LA for the finale,” Wilfon wrote in a recent blog post.

Wilfon and photojournalist Dennis Meister are flying to LA next week to cover the season finale. He’ll be reporting live on KJRH’s morning show next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and appearing during the station’s evening newscasts on Monday and Tuesday.

In August, Wilfon auditioned for “Voice” producers at the show’s open tryouts in LA. He sang Michael Buble’s “Home” but was unable to impress the producers enough to make it to the next round of auditions.

“With hope,” Wilfon writes, “my reporting on ‘The Voice’ will be better than my singing.”

Here’s a snippet of Wilfon singing on-air…
