Gloria Neal Leaving Denver for Atlanta

By Aneya Fernando

gloria-neal2Longtime anchor/reporter Gloria Neal is leaving Denver CBS O&O KCNC for a new gig as morning anchor at Atlanta CBS affiliate WGCL.

Neal spoke to Denver Post reporter Joanne Ostrow about how surprised she was to be moving to the ATL :

By phone from Atlanta, Glo said, “Man plans and God laughs.” She was “stunned when they called me. I love Colorado, it’s going to be so hard … (leaving) but it’s also a great opportunity. (Atlanta) is a huge market. I’ve been here many times.” Her husband has clients there.

She sounds amazed that the Atlanta CBS folks want her as “a morning show anchor in the way that I want to anchor news, which is not the traditional way.” She calls it “the opportunity of a lifetime.”

Neal joined KCNC in 2008. She replaces former WGCL morning anchor Michelle Burdo, who left the station last month to raise her child.

Neal’s last day at KCNC will be in mid-May and her start date at WGCL is June 1.
