KGPE sports director George Takata is shifting from sports to news as he joins sister station KSEE, the Fresno Bee reports. Beginning Thursday, Takata will be the NBC affiliate’s morning co-anchor.
“Tune in for his debut, along with our new weather person Heidi Waggoner, our HD launch, AND our brand new set…all on Oct. 31!” co-anchor Carina Corral wrote on Facebook. “…this is going to be F-U-N!”

Takata has been the weeknight sports anchor at KGPE, which Nexstar recently combined with KSEE, since 1997. Watch his goodbye video after the jump.
