otstot cropped kseeKSEE reporter Matt Otstot is leaving the Fresno, CA, NBC affiliate to work in PR at the Children’s Hospital Central California.

“Leaving is bittersweet, but it’s a combination of the right opportunity with the right time in my life,” Otstot told The Fresno Bee. “I just got married and it had become a little bit of a grind to wake up so early and wake my wife so early.”

This isn’t the first time Otstot has left local TV. He came to Fresno in the summer of 2001 to work at KSEE. He left his job as a reporter and weekend weather forecaster in early 2003 when he was hired as a public affairs officer for the city of Fresno. He returned to KSEE (Channel 24.1) in 2010 as a weekday reporter and weekend anchor.

Also during his break from TV, Otstot moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career and then performed with the Fresno Will Work for Food Players improvisational group. He doesn’t rule out future acting jobs if the situation and project are just right.

Otstot will know at least one person when he shows up for his new job. Zara Arboleda, another former Nexstar on-air talent (at CBS47), started her new job on Monday as public relations manager for Children’s Hospital.

Otstot’s last day is Friday.
