Tony Perkins will join NBC4 Washington (WRC-TV) as an anchor of its morning newscast News4 Today.

Perkins will join Jummy Olabanji, Chuck Bell, Melissa Mollet and Molette Green as anchor Eun Yang moves to a new assignment anchoring evening newscasts for the station.

“Viewers in the Washington area have known and appreciated Tony for decades,” said Mike Goldrick, vice president of news for NBC4 and Telemundo 44. “We think that kind of experience living in and covering our community is critical to a successful anchor team.”

Perkins attended elementary school in D.C. before graduating from Mount Vernon High School in Alexandria, Va., and moving on to American University. Olabanji, Mollet and Green also grew up in the D.C. area.

“I could not be more excited about joining the NBC4 family,” Perkins said. “This is, quite literally, a dream come true. I can’t wait to contribute to what is and always has been a remarkably great team.”

Perkins left WUSA in D.C. last Fall. He previously served as the weatherman on Good Morning America for several years. Perkins will continue his radio partnership with Donnie Simpson on Majic 102.3 in the evenings.

In addition, Pat Lawson Muse has announced her retirement after 41 years with the station. Muse made history in the early 1980s when she and Barbara Harrison teamed up as the first African American female anchor team in the country. In the decades since, Muse has been a staple on the evening news, anchoring News4 at 4 for 27 years.

“Pat has been an incredible member of this team in so many ways,” Goldrick said. “I’ve always appreciated her kindness to her colleagues and her commitment to our community.”

With Muse’s retirement, NBC4 has announced a new anchor lineup, with longtime morning anchor Eun Yang moving to evening newscasts. Yang recently celebrated 20 years at NBC4 Washington.

Here is the new lineup:
