Little Rock NBC affiliate KARK has announced the addition of Former Green Bay Packers tight end D.J. Williams to its news team.

Williams, who is currently a free agent, will be the new co-anchor of “KARK 4 Today.” He joins Mallory Brooks, Aaron Nolan and meteorologist Pat Walker (the station’s former weekend meteorologist and Greg Dee‘s replacement) weekdays from 4:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Williams explained to he’s had a relationship with KARK since playing high school football at Central Arkansas Christian and in college for the Razorbacks in Fayetteville.

“I’ve always done football and it’s always come natural,” Williams told KARK. “It’s always taken care of itself. For the first time in my life in almost anything, I hit a huge speed bump when it came to sports and what I had going on.”

Williams is quickly catching on to the world of local news, and joked that the station wants him to be “the Michael Strahan of Arkansas TV.”

In reality, he’s hoping that his media career is a short one and that he’s back to training for an NFL team by the spring. In the meantime, his KARK debut is set for Monday morning.
