Former North Carolina Anchor Dies at 59

Former WXII anchor, Denise Franklin, has passed away at 59. She made her mark as an anchor and general manager in the Triad Cities market in North Carolina.

“Franklin was a powerhouse in the Triad news world. She anchored WXII 12 News with Rick Amme in the 80’s and 90’s, before moving on to public radio. Franklin was the general manager at WFDD,” according to the station website.

Franklin was a graduate of Wichita State University before joining WXII in July 1983. Most recently, Franklin was part of the Wake Forest University School of Divinity according to a report.
