Former KXAS Reporter Grant Stinchfield’s Campaign Covered by Rival Station KDFW

By Merrill Knox

After weeks of speculation about his campaign, former KXAS reporter Grant Stinchfield officially announced his candidacy yesterday for the U.S. House of Representatives in the Texas 24th district. Stinchfield — who says the skills honed as an investigative reporter will help him “expose the waste and fraud that runs rampant” in DC — will challenge four-term incumbent Rep. Kenny Marchant in the Republican primary.

So far, the only Dallas station to devote coverage to Stinchfield’s campaign is KDFW, which is a Fox O&O (watch the video, above). KXAS, the NBC O&O in Dallas, has remained mum, but WBBH — the NBC affiliate in Fort Myers where Stinchfield worked before KXAS — mentioned his campaign on their 5 p.m. evening newscast August 16.
