Former KOIN News Director Pleads Not Guilty to Fraud

Former KOIN (6) news director Jeff Alan, who federal authorities say disappeared in 1986, used multiple Social Security numbers and changed his name, was released on his own recognizance Friday.

Alan, who pleaded not guilty to the nine counts of fraud and making false statements lodged against him by the U.S. attorney, was released pending a trial set to begin June 22.

District Judge Donald Ashmanskas’ decision to release Alan came at the recommendation of a pretrial services panel that said the nature of his alleged crimes and his lack of a criminal record indicated he posed little risk to the community. More…
