Former KNBC News Director Dies

Onetime KNBC news director Bob Long has died.

Long was remembered by the Los Angeles NBC-owned station as an iconic newsman with a true entrepreneur spirit who was “passionate, unique and a true journalist.”

He retired in 2009 after six years as news director at KNBC. Before that, he had been the vp of news and operations at WRC in Washington, D.C. and managing editor at KNBC.

Long’s career also included work as a “rewrite man” for the Associated Press, a news writer at KNXT (KCBS), a producer on the syndicated show In Search Of and a senior field producer for Real People.
