For Abilene Viewers, Local Meteorologist Steals Scene From Streisand in ‘The Guilt Trip’

By Kevin Eck

Mark Rowlett, chief meteorologist for KTXS, the ABC affiliate for Abilene, TX, made the jump from the green screen to the silver screen for the mother-son road comedy “The Guilt Trip.”

The movie may star Barbra Streisand and Seth Rogen, but for KTXS viewers and Rowlett’s friends and family there are only a few seconds of the movie that really matter, the scene featuring Rowlett. “I say it was two seconds, my daughter says it was four seconds,” Rowlett told the Abilene Reporter-News.

In the scene, Streisand and Rogen stop at a motel in Abilene.  While Streisand is at the motel bar, Rowlett can be seen on a TV in the background giving the weather forecast.  Rowlett’s voice continues to be heard while the movie cuts to Rogen, lying on the bed in his motel room listening to the forecast.

Fame did not go to Rowlett’s head, though.  He told the Reporter-News he needed some coaxing to see his film debut. “My wife and youngest daughter dragged me, I mean, took me to see it,” he said.
