If you’ve been in New York City at night, you’ve seen the Empire State Building lit up in a different color scheme each night. Every color is a tribute to something. On Valentine’s Day, what was once the world’s tallest building, was lit up in red lights that pulsed like a heartbeat.
This Sunday,the Empire State Building will shine red in honor of WNJU‘s 50 year anniversary. In 1965, the Telemundo-owned New York market station was the first to bring Spanish language programming to the US outside of Puerto Rico to the New York market.
Said WNJU president and GM, Cristina Schwarz, “On the evening of Sunday, April 26, viewers from all across the New York Tri-State area will be able to look up to the beacon of our skyline as it beams in red, in honor of our station’s past and the promise of our future as we reaffirm our commitment to be the first informers our communities demand and deserve.”
