Michael Eisner is doing his best to dispel rumors that he’s in line to take over Tribune Co. In a recent interview with Bloomberg Television, Eisner said it is “highly unlikely” that he would take the reins at Tribune.

Over the last month, rumors have swirled that Eisner is in talks to head the embattled media company. The former Disney chairman and CEO owns Tribune debt and a source close to Eisner told The Hollywood Reporter in August that he believes that the company “if managed properly, could be turned around.”

The Bloomberg interview is just Eisner’s latest attempt to downplay the rumors. “I guess somebody in the media put one and one and added it up to two,” Eisner told the St. Louis radio station KTRS last week.
