Editor’s Note: A New Era at TVSpy

By Andrew Gauthier

Today is my last day as editor of the TV news industry’s longest running blog. I’m leaving to join BuzzFeed, where I’ll oversee video production for their expanding empire. Merrill Knox, an editor here for the past year and a half who has a deep knowledge of the TV business, is taking the reins.

Since Merrill joined the TVSpy team, traffic for the site has doubled and the amount of raw reporting has increased significantly. Joining Merrill in covering local TV news at Mediabistro will be the team at Lost Remote, the influential social TV blog acquired by our parent company earlier this week.

When I first began working at TVSpy, the local TV business was reeling from a prolonged recession and the future looked bleak. Now, with staffing at local stations way up, there is a new energy coursing through the industry. And you can be certain that TVSpy, as it has done for decades, will be there to cover all of the future developments.
