The bidding for a U.S. army veteran’s listing on eBay increased dramatically after WTXF, the Fox O&O in Philadelphia, reported on his struggle to find a job since his return from Iraq.
Bill Shephard is selling his Army Achievement Medal (pictured) on eBay to help him support his family. WTXF contacted him earlier this week after seeing the listing. Before the report aired, no one had bid on the medal; after the story aired, the bids flooded in. Bidding is currently at $5,200.
“It’s been absolutely overwhelming,” reporter Claudia Gomez said on yesterday evening’s newscast. “We’ve gotten phone calls, emails, not just from this area but from as far away as Florida, Alabama and California. It is clear Americans want to help a father who served his country.” Video inside…
