Don Shafer has been named news director at San Diego CW affiliate XETV, San Diego U-T reports.
Shafer moves to San Diego from Peoria, where he was the news and multimedia content manager for NBC affiliate WEEK. Before that, he was the news and station operations manager for WEYI-WBSF, the NBC and CW affiliates in Flint, Mich. He has also worked at KNSD in San Diego, KWGN in Denver and WLUK in Green Bay.
Shafer begins today at XETV, replacing Jon Fischer, who parted ways with the station in June.
