KMGH, the Denver ABC-affiliate, has hired Holly Gauntt to become the station’s new news director effective July 31.

Gauntt comes from KDVR-KWGH, the Tribune-owned duopoly in the market.

“Holly has an outstanding track record of leading newsrooms to award-winning success,” said Dean Littleton, vice presient and general manager.

Gauntt grew up in the Denver area and led the newsroom at KDVR-KWGN since 2014.

“I grew up watching Denver7 and couldn’t pass up this opportunity to work at the station I love in the city I love,” said Gauntt.

Prior to moving to Denver, Gauntt worked in newsrooms in Seattle, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore.

She is on the advisory board for the University of Colorado School of Journalism and is a regional chairperson for Radio, Television, Digital News Association.
