Dan Boers Named News Director at WOOD

17321000-mmmainAfter 18 years at Grand Rapids NBC affiliate WOOD, Dan Boers has been promoted to news director at the station.

Boers joined WOOD in 1997 as a producer and became assignment manager in 2001. He went on to work as the director of news operations and most recently, as assistant news director there. Boers succeeds Rebecca Sapakie, who was promoted in January to senior digital editorial strategist at Media General, which owns WOOD.

“Dan’s dedication and devotion to delivering strong, journalistic content is a perfect match for 24 Hour News 8,” Diane Kniowski, general manager of WOOD, told MLive.com. “He’s experienced in evaluating research and viewer trends and assists in making sure we’re covering stories that impact our viewers.”
