CW-Affiliate WNLO Set to Debut New Morning Show

Buffalo CW-affiliate WNLO is set to launch a new weekday morning show called “Winging It! Buffalo Style” (promo video above).

The 8 a.m. show is essentially a renovation of the timeslot for LIN duopoly WNLO and WIVB, a CBS-affiliate. “Winging It!” will be hosted by Joe Arena and Victoria Hong, who currently anchor the morning newscast of WIVB-WNLO, along with Allie Hartwick. In 2009, WIVB expanded its morning newscast with Arena and Hong from two hours to four, with the program switching from WIVB to WNLO at 7 a.m. to make way for the “The Early Show.”

“It’s definitely not your average morning news show,” Arena told The Buffalo News recently, saying that the new show would focus on lifestyle topics such as parenting, health, beauty, and fitness.

“We’ll definitely have a news segment with Melissa Holmes updating headlines from our newsroom,” Arena said. “But the rest of the time we’ll talk about hot topics that everyone else is talking about, everything from finance to romance. I’m excited about it, because we won’t have a prompter so we can throw out our two cents.”
