Covering Controversial Immigration Law, WXIA Reporter Spends Day Working on a Farm

By Andrew Gauthier

As a federal judge mulled over the fate of Georgia’s new immigration law, WXIA reporter Devin Fehely spent a day working alongside immigrant laborers on a farm outside of Atlanta to get a glimpse of what their lives are like and to see first-hand how the new law may affect Georgia farms.

“Don’t think I’ve ever been more tired or dirty in my life,” Fehely tweeted on Tuesday afternoon, with three more hours remaining until the end of his shift.

“It is physically draining, physically exhausting,” Fehely said during WXIA’s 6 p.m. newscast, describing his day picking watermelons in near-100-degree heat (video above).
