Court Documents Reveal that Heidi Jones Told Police ‘I Made It Up For Attention’

Heidi Jones, the WABC meteorologist accused of lying to New York City police about an attempted sexual assault, appeared in court on Wednesday to face two misdemeanor charges.

According to court documents released on Wednesday, Jones admitted to police on December 13 that she had made up the story about a hispanic man forcing her into a wooded area while she was jogging in Central Park.

“I did make this up. I made it up for attention. I have so much stress at work, with my personal life and with my family. I know there is no justification for it,” Jones reportedly told police.

While Jones ignored reporters outside the Manhattan courthouse on Wednesday, her attorney, Paul Callan, told the swarm of microphones that Jones had entered a not guilty plea in the case.

“There is a presumption of innocence that applies even to Heidi Jones,” he said.
