Continuing to Remake Its News Team, KSTP Searches for New Anchor

By Andrew Gauthier

KSTP in Minneapolis-St. Paul is looking to expand its news team. The ABC-affiliate is currently searching for a new, full-time anchor-reporter.

“As I tell all of the agents, the show depends on the person’s talent. We produce nine hours of news each weekday… with that many newscasts, we have plenty of room for another anchor,” news director Lindsay Radford told MinnPost.

KSTP has remade its on-air roster over the past year.  Veteran sports anchor Joe Scmitt returned to the station at the beginning of 2010, and his arrival was the first of many moves.

Anchor Cyndy Brucato, who returned to KSTP in 2004 after 18 years away, retired at the end of the summer and the station’s 6:30 p.m. newscast is now anchored by Leah McLean and Gus Rosendale, who joined KSTP in December.

The station also added anchor Joy Lim Nakrin and reporter Jennifer Copeland in November.
