Colleen McCarty Chooses Law Over TV

By Kevin Eck

Colleen McCarty, investigative reporter for Las Vegas CBS affiliate KLAS, is leaving broadcasting to focus on a law career.

“I love KLAS-TV and am very proud of the work I have produced with my I-team colleagues,” said McCarty, who told TVSpy she is leaving the station in September to begin a new job at the Las Vegas law firm of Gordon & Silver. “The transition is very bittersweet.”

McCarty said going to law school had been a life-long dream. “I hope to combine my two skill sets to work to protect the rights of journalists and to preserve the First Amendment.  I love journalism too much to leave it entirely.”

McCarty joined KLAS in 2004. She started her career in Pocatello, ID, and has also worked at KVVU in Las Vegas, KSTP in Minneapolis, MN, and as a producer for “Cold Case Files” on the A&E network.
