WNBC‘s planned special coverage of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks will be simulcast Sunday on CNBC, NBC’s business network.
WNBC, which is the flagship NBC owned-and-operated station in New York City, will be live beginning at 6 a.m. for a two-hour “Today in New York,” anchored by Darlene Rodriguez and Michael Gargiulo. CNBC will pick up the station’s coverage from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for a special report featuring Chuck Scarborough and Sue Simmons, who will read the names of the 9/11 victims.
The WNBC coverage will span ceremonies at Ground Zero that will be attended by President Obama and former President Bush. Security has been tightened for the occasion following a “credible, but unconfirmed” threat of a terror attack on the anniversary; WNBC was one of the two New York City local stations to show a press conference on the threat from NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg last night. The other was WCBS.
