Cincinnati’s WXIX Shows Progress of Newsroom Renovation

By Kevin Eck

WXIX news director Kevin Roach gave Cincinnati Enquirer media writer John Kiesewetter a tour of the construction taking place in the station’s newsroom.

“There’s no one in the newsroom now because they’re all down in the basement,” said Roach. “We’re renovating our newsroom. As you can see, it’s a mess.” Click here to view the video. The Enquirer site doesn’t allow embedding.

The FOX affiliate’s newsroom will be about 50% bigger than the previous one. The construction includes a new control room, new green room and new bathrooms. It is expected to be completed by November.

While Kiesewetter was taping the tour, he stumbled across new investigative reporter Hagit Limor, which at the time was a scoop. Though the video was posted after her arrival was announced.

The station also posts weekly updates of the renovation’s progress on its website. Click here to view the latest. View a time lapse of the construction after the jump.
