Chicago Sportscaster Mike Adamle ‘Vigorously Disputes’ DUI Charge

Chicago sportscaster Mike Adamle is prepared to fight a DUI charge he received last week.

Adamle’s attorney said in a statement that the WMAQ sports anchor “vigorously disputes that he was under the influence of alcohol or any other illegal substance when detained.” Police pulled Adamle over after he allegedly ignored a flashing red traffic light.  He was arrested after reportedly failing a field sobriety.

The results of Adamle’s DUI show that the veteran sportscaster, who worked for Chicago’s WLS in the 80s after a career in the NFL, definitely has a case.  According to the Chicago Tribune, Adamle’s blood-alcohol level was 0.04 percent, well below the legal limit of 0.08.

TribLocal points out that Adamle suffers from epilepsy and that medication taken to treat the condition could have produced side effects similar to drinking too much alcohol.
