Chicago Sports Reporter to Be Investigative Reporter

By Kevin Eck

Peggy Kusinski has been a sports reporter for Chicago NBC-owned station WMAQ since 2000.

As Chicago media writer Robert Feder first reported, Kusinski is transitioning to a more investigative role.

“She’s decided to take a break from the daily reporting beat,” station manager and vp of news Frank Whittaker wrote in a memo to staffers. “But I’m pleased to tell you that Peggy will continue working with NBC 5, developing investigative and in-depth sports stories for our newscasts and Sports Sunday.”

She starts her new role in September.

Recent hire Mike Berman will take over Kusinski’s daily sports beat including Bears’ coverage. Berman came from WTTV in Indianapolis.
