Brien Kennedy has been named president and GM of CBS owned station KYW and CW affiliate WPSG.

Kennedy comes from Minneapolis-St. Paul CBS Owned station WCCO where he’s been VP and GM since June 2010. He takes over for Jon Hitchcock who is heading home to Connecticut to work as GM of Tribune-owned WTIC and WCCT in Hartford-New Haven.

Kennedy started working for CBS in 2003, when it was known as Viacom Television Stations Group. Two years later he was promoted from station manager at WTVX in West Palm Beach, Fla. to VP and GM of both WTVX and WFOR-WBFS in Miami.

“Brien is an extremely talented and community-oriented broadcast executive who has done a terrific job of leading our team at WCCO-TV during the past five years,” said Peter Dunn, president of CBS Television Stations. “He assumed responsibility for overseeing one of the crown jewels of our station group and made the station even stronger and more successful by coming to work every day with a commitment to excellence and innovation. We’re excited to have him make this move to Philadelphia and once again enhance the legacy of a great CBS station and also make the most of the opportunity we have to drive growth at The CW Philly.”
