Catherine-AnayaCatherine Anaya, an evening anchor at Phoenix CBS affiliate KPHO, is leaving the station after nearly 13 years, The Arizona Republic reports.

“I have been so blessed,” Anaya told the site. “This has truly been the best career and the best job. I step away very humbled and grateful and blessed … but I feel like this is just the beginning.”

Anaya announced the news of her departure to her Facebook fans on Friday. In the post, she mentioned the passing of her children’s father six months ago as a catalyst for her leaving:

It has changed our lives in ways I can’t even begin to explain. When Briana gave her eulogy, she talked about how Dave was always there. For everything. My heart broke – and woke – at that moment knowing that if she had to give my eulogy, she couldn’t say the same about me.

Anaya added that she’s grateful for her time in the world of TV news, but is more than happy to take a step back and focus on other things:

It’s been a glorious 26 year television news career & I have loved every moment and have accomplished more than I ever dreamed. But I’m looking forward to this next chapter & an eventual new career that will allow me to keep doing the things I love but with the flexibility to be present for my family.

Anaya will be leaving the station at the end of July.
