After 26 years as mayor of Carlisle, PA, Kirk Wilson announced today that he will resign in order to join Harrisburg’s WHP as a reporter.
“He is a popular mayor and a life-long resident of the area,” WHP vice president and general manager Holly Steuart said in a statement. “He really understands the people and issues that impact our daily lives.”
Before becoming mayor in 1985, Wilson had a career in radio and television news, including a reporting job at WHP beginning in 1978. His second stint at the station will start on January 4.
“Over the years, I have become knowledgeable in the operation of state government and local communities,” Wilson said. “I believe this is invaluable in bringing the news to viewers in this region with new insight.”
