By Kevin Eck

Denver FOX affiliate KDVR has hired a new morning anchor team that includes former KCNC anchor Brooke Wagner. Wagner’s new co-anchor will be Kirk Yuhnke who joins KDVR from Phoenix ABC affiliate KNXV.

“We believe Brooke and Kirk, along with meteorologist Jennifer Broome and traffic anchor Ken Clark, will make a dynamic team,” KDVR news director Ed Kosowski told TVSpy. “They have the experience, passion and personality to make “Good Day Colorado” a unique morning newscast in this highly-competitive market.”

Both Wagner and Yuhnke, who go on-air two weeks from today on April 22, broke the news via social media.  Wagner chose twitter to announce, saying, “Friends, I’m thrilled and proud to announce I have a new TV home @KDVR ! I will start on #GoodDayColorado soon! Honored to join the team!”

Yuhnke went to facebook to tell his fans the news, “I have enjoyed my time here at ABC15 and have made some great friends over the past 3 years. My family and I have decided to move to Denver. I’ve accepted a job at KDVR, the Fox affiliate there. We are thrilled to move to the Rocky Mountains but will miss beautiful Phoenix and the great ABC15 viewers.”

In an email to staff, the station also announced several other anchor changes. In the email, Kosowski said some of the changes would be temporary but would provide consistency through the end of May sweeps.

Current morning anchor Nick Emmons will move to the 7:00 p.m. newscast alongside Hema Mullur. Melody Mendez will move to reporter as well as filling in for “Everyday” co-host Natalie Tysdal, who announced she will be leaving the station at the end of May.

The station also announced Boris Sanchez will co-anchor the 10:00 p.m. news with Hema Mullur beginning tonight. Kim Posey will solo anchor the weekend news most weekends. She’ll anchor with Eli Stokols on Sundays.
