5x7 Bob HalloranWCVB says it has found the right person to fill the sports reporter role left vacant after Mike Dowling left in February. His name is Bob Halloran and he’s been working at the Boston ABC affiliate since 2003.

“Bob is an exceptional talent.  His ability to fill multiple roles—anchoring, writing, producing and reporting—made the decision to bring him on board as our sports reporter an easy one,” Andrew Vrees, WCVB news director, said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to seeing Bob continue to grow at NewsCenter 5.”

Since he started at WCVB, Halloran has been working as a reporter, anchor and fill-in sports reporter. He will join anchor Mike Lynch on Monday.
