Rebecca Powers has announced she is leaving WLOX to spend more time with her family on December 12.

“I’ve decided to put my TV career on hold and spend more time with my husband and our two small children,” she told viewers at the end of last night’s 10:00 p.m. news. “I know the next few weeks will be very emotional for me. So, I don’t want to say too much right now. I’ll get a chance to say an appropriate good-bye on the 12th.”

The anchor for the Biloxi, MS, ABC and digital CBS station started her career at WDSU in New Orleans. She moved to WLOX as a producer and has also worked as an on-air personality for 97.9 WCPR-FM in Biloxi before becoming an anchor for WLOX.
