BASE Jumper ID’d After Dying in Michigan Station Tower Jump

Michigan police have identified the man who died after jumping off the tower of ABC and CW affiliate WLAJ last night.

WLNS reports Joshua Sheppard (31) of Southfield, Mich. died around 5:30 p.m.

Police say it appears based on preliminary investigation and witness statements the deceased trespassed onto the property and climbed to the top of the tower and attempted a base jump. The parachute failed to deploy.

The tower is located on Baseline Road in Jackson County’s Tompkins Township and is owned by WLAJ-TV, a television station operated by WLNS-TV in Lansing. Sheldon Galloway is President of Shield Media, owners of WLAJ – TV said, “We are saddened to learn about this tragic loss of life. Our station offers its deepest condolences to Joshua Sheppard’s family and loved ones.”
