He’s been a Baltimore broadcasting icon for years.
But over the weekend, meteorologist Tony Pagnotti said goodbye to TV for a job as a professor at the University of Maryland.
Pagnotti had been in that role at WBFF since 2013 after a long run at WMAR and other Baltimore media outlets.
He told the Baltimore Sun that he’s leaving the door open for part-time on-air work.
“When I came here in 1985 … I wasn’t sure how long I’d stay in B-more. Needless to say it was a great fateful move, also having met my wife and raising two beautiful girls. I will continue to live in the area, so I would always be open to any freelance opportunities that might fit into my teaching schedule.”
Pagnotti says he accepted a full-time speech communications position in 2013 with FOX45 which led to continuous one-year deal offerings. But last year the station news director told him his two day a week job as the weekend meteoroglist was going to be full time.
“That helped me make my decision easy to leave since I love teaching college students.”
