‘Bad Dancing & Bad Judgement’: WITI Pulls Promo With Reporter Dancing at Fire Scene

By Merrill Knox

On Monday we told you about a WITI promo video that included a clip of a reporter dancing at the scene of a fatal fire. It seems that station management agreed with 84 percent of our readers that thought the promo video should be taken down. Shortly after we posted our poll yesterday, the video disappeared from the WITI website.

“Bad dancing & bad judgement,” one reader wrote.

“Yes morning shows are lighter fare but for this woman to be dancing at the scene of a fire where three children died is an example of a perfect embarrassment,” another reader said. “Where did common sense and good judgement go?”

“Either the news director or the promotions director has got to be axed,” another wrote.

“Morning shows have to get a little silly so people will watch. They can’t make the whole show somber every time somebody dies. People die EVERY DAY on the news. Do you think reporters just sit and cry between live shots when the story is sad?” a dissenting reader wrote. “Lighten. Up.”
