Austen Schauer is leaving Fargo, ND, FOX affiliate KVRR to work as a fundraiser for a local school, according to Fargo’s Forum.

Schauer has worked in North Dakota for 36 years. He started at WDAZ in Grand Forks, ND, in 1977. Three years later, he went to WDAY as the weekend anchor and reporter. In 2000, he joined KVRR as co-anchor and producer of the 6:00 and 9:00pm news.

The longtime Fargo anchor also leaves behind Jim Shaw, KVRR news director, who has worked with Schauer almost continuously since 1980, “This is not just another opening,” Shaw told Fargo’s Forum, “I’m losing the guy I’ve spent more hours with than my spouse.”
