At Fox O&Os, 4:30 Is The New 5 for News

Graveyard shifters, insomniacs, pre-dawn commuters–Fox Television Stations want them all.

Over the past couple of months, the station group has extended its early morning news block in 11 markets by adding 4:30 a.m. newscasts or, in one case (Houston), a 4 a.m. newscast.

With the sign on of WHBQ Memphis on Monday, 13 of Fox’s 16 news-producing stations are now in the early-early news business.

“It’s the natural next step in the local news evolution,” says Sharri Berg, SVP of news operations for the Fox O&Os. “We’re really answering the consumers’ changing need for news and information.” More…
