With Steve Chenevey (left) set to rejoin Fox-owned WTTG in Washington, D.C., next month, changes are afoot for the station’s morning and evening anchor lineups. Chenevey will co-anchor the morning newscast beginning November 4 and Tony Perkins (right) will move to evenings beginning October 28.
“I am thrilled to announce Steve’s return to the FOX 5 family and Tony’s move to evenings. This new talent lineup will enhance our incredible bench of reliable and engaging news anchors, who continue to keep our commitment to bringing viewers relevant and compelling local news,” WTTG vice president and general manager Patrick Paolini said in a statement.
Chenevey, who was most recently the morning anchor at rival WJLA, will co-anchor “Fox 5 Morning News” alongside Allison Seymour. Perkins, who has been WTTG’s morning anchor since 2012, will co-anchor the 5 p.m. newscast with Laura Evans and the 10 p.m. newscast with Shawn Yancy.
“I’ve always been a believer that you actually can go home again and I’m incredibly fortunate to get the chance to return to my FOX 5 News family. I’m ready to jump back in without skipping a beat,” Chenevey said. “I can’t wait to see so many familiar faces and reunite with our loyal viewers.”

TONY PERKINS NAMED EVENING NEWS ANCHOR
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Steve Chenevey returns to FOX 5 News and Tony Perkins is moving to evenings, announced Patrick Paolini, Vice President and General Manager of WTTG FOX 5. Steve has been named co-anchor of “FOX 5 Morning News” alongside Allison Seymour Monday through Friday, beginning November 4th. Tony has been named evening co-anchor of the station’s 5 and 10 p.m. newscasts. He will co-anchor the 5 p.m. news with Laura Evans and the 10 p.m. news with Shawn Yancy. His first day in this new role will be October 28th.

Most recently, Chenevey served as a Morning Anchor and Reporter at WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, he was Morning Anchor for FOX 5 News for nine years. Earlier in his career, Chenevey was a News Reporter/Anchor for WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh, PA and News Anchor for WYTV-TV in Youngstown, OH. Chenevey holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Clarion University.

Most recently, Tony served as co-anchor of “FOX 5 Morning News,” a role he has held since 2012. Prior to this, Perkins served as co-anchor of FOX 5’s weekday 9 a.m. newscast with Allison Seymour, as well as contributing to the entire morning weekday newscast in various capacities. He returned to FOX 5 in 2005, after serving as a weather forecaster and feature reporter for ABC’s “Good Morning America.” Perkins first worked at WTTG-TV as co-anchor of “Fox Morning News” from 1998 to 1999, conducting interviews, doing feature segments and reviewing movies. Before that, he served as the show’s weather personality starting in 1993. A Washington, D.C. area native, Tony attended Mt. Vernon High School in Fairfax County and is a graduate of American University.

I truly appreciate the faith placed in me by station management and I look forward to joining my friends and colleagues on the night side. While I will really miss the morning team, I hope they won’t mind if I still pop in from time to time,” stated Perkins.
