Art Franklin is back in Birmingham, Ala.
Franklin will start anchoring the WIAT morning news on Monday, Feb. 8.
The CBS affiliate put Franklin’s picture on its Facebook page with the hashtag #WELCOMBACKART. It also did a few videos to celebrate his return.

He anchored at Fox affiliate WBRC for 12 years and was the city’s first African-American anchor in primetime, before leaving for Fox-owned station WAGA in Atlanta. He then moved to Atlanta’s NBC affiliate WXIA. He last worked in public relations.
“Art’s return to the Magic City has energized his loyal viewers and is truly a game changer for the market,” said Erik Schrader, president and gm of WIAT.
