Anna Davlantes Settles $69,000 Tab for Wedding

After eloping to Paris last spring, WFLD morning anchor Anna Davlantes and her new husband, Chicago entrepreneur David Gamperl, threw a wedding reception in early June at Carmichael’s in Chicago. About 300 of the couple’s closest friends sipped mango margaritas and dined on slow-roasted prime rib. One problem: the restaurant claims the payment for the party, which was to be taken care of by a relative of Davlantes, was never received.

Davlantes paid Carmichael’s in full on Friday after being notified that the restaurant had filed a lawsuit seeking the money from the couple. “This is the first I’ve heard there was a problem,” Davlantes told The Chicago Tribune. She said that she had never been contacted by the restaurant and was unaware that two previous checks written for the tab by a relative had not cleared. The restaurant admits they had never spoken directly to Davlantes about the outstanding balance, saying they had dealt with her husband instead.

A bank confirmed Friday afternoon that Davlantes had sufficient funds to cover the hefty check. An attorney for the restaurant said that Carmichael’s considers the matter resolved and will drop the lawsuit.
