Anchor Who Quit to Launch Podcast Gets Deal

By Kevin Eck

Former WMAQ anchor Anthony Ponce, who quit his job to start a podcast about driving for Lyft, just saw his risk pay off.

The Chicago Tribune reports Ponce’s Backseat Rider podcast was signed to a one-year deal by PodcastOne, the company that distributes podcasts by Adam Carolla, Bulletproof Radio and The Dan Patrick Show.

Ponce interviews passengers in his Lyft car as he drives them around Chicago. He posted a video to his Facebook page talking about the deal and announcing the launch of his show. The first episode is about risk.
