Anchor Ron Corning on Moving From NY to Dallas: ‘How Could I Not Pursue This?’

By Andrew Gauthier

After spending much of his career in New York, anchor Ron Corning has decided to join Dallas’s WFAA. So what inspired him to head 1500 miles southwest?

“When I met these folks in Dallas, it was like somebody who decides they’re going to be single but they just reluctantly go out on one date, and it’s such a match,” Corning told FishbowlNY recently. “How could I not pursue this?”

Corning co-anchored WNYW‘s morning newscast for two years before being let go in 2008.  Now, after anchoring evening newscasts for regional NY cable news channel News 12, Corning will return to mornings as co-anchor of WFAA’s “Daybreak.”
