Anchor Jamie Holmes is Back on Florida TV

Jamie Holmes, who left West Palm Beach’s WPTV in 2009 after being demoted from weekend anchor to reporter, has returned to Florida TV.

Florida News Center is reporting that Holmes has turned up at Orlando’s WFTV.  He’s been working alongside Liz Artz on the ABC-affiliate’s weekend newscasts.

At WPTV, Holmes had expected to succeed longtime anchor Chandra Bill on the station’s 5 and 5:30 p.m. newscasts.  Bill was set to retire in the spring but the NBC-affiliate instead chose Jay Cashmere as her successor.  Holmes put in his two weeks notice following the move and said that he was leaving TV.

At the time, Holmes told TCPalm that he realized “it was time to get out of the business.”

“I felt like all of my opportunities in television had been exhausted and I was looking for other companies that offered me more opportunities.”
