Amber Eikel Joins KTVU as Managing Editor

Amber Eikel has been named managing editor at KTVU, the Fox affiliate in San Francisco. Her first day will be September 30.

Eikel comes from KTVU sister station KIRO, Cox’s CBS affiliate in Seattle, where she has been an executive producer for the past two years. She has also worked as an EP at KTNV in Las Vegas and as a senior writer and producer at WTMJ in Milwaukee.

“We are very fortunate to have someone of Amber’s caliber in the Cox Media Group family. Her great work at KIRO and previous experience covering big stories will make her a great leader here at KTVU,” news director Lee Rosenthal said in a statement.

Her hire comes on the heels of staff upheaval at KTVU related to the station reporting fake names of the Asiana Airlines flight 214 pilots.

Amber Eikel has been named Managing Editor at KTVU-TV.  Eikel’s first day will be Monday, September 30th.

Eikel joins KTVU from Cox Media Group sister-station, KIRO, where she has been an Executive Producer for the last 2 ½ years.  Before working at KIRO, Eikel was an Executive Producer at KTNV (ABC) in Las Vegas, NV.  Prior to her stint in Las Vegas she was a Senior Writer/Producer at WTMJ (NBC) in Milwaukee, WI.  She got her start at KMIR (NBC) in Palm Springs, CA, as a Producer.
